As soon as you buy a new car, it begins depreciating with time and use; it leaves the car shop to the buyer’s home and starts losing value. A newborn baby is created by new cells, which later intern advances them into an adult. A car is serviced according to the manual instructions. For example, the oil is changed, or the wheels are rotated, yet the depreciating continues. The baby’s cells keep adding and increasing to a certain age and stop. With age, the body begins depreciating like a car. In the same way, the body needs repair with surgery, medication, or even rest.
Big Alarm
Like a car, a responsible car owner would also get an annual physical by the doctor for preventive care. To add and decrease what is a smaller amount and reduce that which is extra. A delayed car service is indicated by a red light warning the driver to attend to it. Do not wait until it is too late to take action. I made that mistake after I had my last child leading me to have type 2 diabetes. I drunk plenty of water, coco-cola, and tea, but thirst wouldn’t go away. As I stood in front of a mirror, I noticed, my face looked strange, like a ripe tomato. At the doctor’s clinic, my monitor showed an abnormal level of sugar. I was in disbelief about the result. So I was sent to another doctor, and to my surprise, the results were the same. I was on the borderline and was immediately put on a restricted diet provided, which I failed to follow. I argued, no one in my family had diabetes. A significant bell rang, and I started having kidney problems seven years later, followed by E Coli infection and laser surgery. The fear of death forced me to listen to the doctor’s instructions and make better health choices.
Ignorance
During a wedding, a man visiting the US from Kenya observed the amount of my drinking and eating. He said to me, jokingly, “If you were my wife, I would control your drinking and eating.” The-wedding had plenty of food for visitors which required lots of prep cooking. Neither the visitor nor I knew the signs of diabetes. At the end of the wedding, the visitor returned to Kenya. The event ended, and the back pain began, someone had to lift me and turn me if needed. I assumed the pain was a result of fatigue from hard work serving many visitors for several weeks. After a one-week, the illness was unbearable, I went to my doctor, and my monitor showed high sugar levels, now thirty-five years. I had not heard of an annual check-up at the time. This condition forced me to go to a regular check-up every three months for the rest of my life.
Assessing changes
The car owner gives service to the car as car demands, but within 10 to 15 years, it changes and makes different noises or has some wear and tear. If they fail to maintain good healthy habits, their body will experience problems much quicker. The car owner starts making a grunting noise as they stand up from a couch or stand up after working-bending, as they approach middle age. The man is struck by a middle-age crisis with no service according to the depreciating human body. The woman is hard-hit by irregular, increasing hotshot sweats, the menopausal at the door, and the heart racing as though it wants to get out of the chest cage. My heart ran out and made me feel like I was gone. I was the only one sweating in the room. The doctor prescribed me medicine related to the replacement of the dried estrogen. Gladly my issue ended. At this age, we, women, need to be aware of our body changes and attend them accordingly with health habits.
Visible signs
As the car gets old, the driveway is marked with dripping dark oil from the old oil pump and water from the old radiator. Suppose you drive through a neighborhood during the day you can easily see all the lanes are covered in oil and water stains from old cars. The vehicle is crying for new car replacement. In my case, I cried for help to rise from my bed and to help to turn. The doctor helped me, but it was too late. Unlike a car, I was not replaceable, but I had to live with my body’s new changes. The pain was unbearable. At the clinic visit, my doctor said to me, “you are depressed.” I asked, “how can you tell I am.” The reply was, you have a crying voice and tearing eyes. I believed the doctor, and I was prescribed medicine-Prozac for one month. A lot of change happened to me. I just had a cesarean birth at age forty-five and was alone when others went to their daily duties. I did all house chores related to the baby and myself, and I assumed everything was going well with my body. But I made sure to check with the doctor to ensure all is well.
Use GPS
Let the doctor guide you on how to replenish and regulate your body and keep on balance.
Am I surprised that I had had almost six cars, one breaking after the other in a period of sixty -five years, serviced them all, but not my body? The body’ depreciated the actual problem displaced. The blame was put on the husband, wife, children, cat, dog, fear of death, hear voices, lousy dream, unloved, etc. The husband picks on the employed adult children who help their mother, causing her to neglect her husband, their father. In return, the wife thinks to herself that her husband found another “dogo dogo” (woman), and he doesn’t love her—the reality of ill-health. Continued conflicts cause stress soon, or later death can happen from stroke, heart, diabetes, blood pressure, etc-their lives shortened.
Do not shortcut life
If a car is right off due to depreciation, yet it receives regular service of almost all parts, how about a person with no annual medical check since antenatal clinic visits all through to retirement age? Apart from over the counter head drug or stomach ache from half-cooked ugali (thick porridge. Be careful, especially with men’s stomach ache, headache, throwing up, and fainting, men, require emergency attention, call 911 immediately if, in the USA, men usually do not readily have these conditions so act quickly at the situation. Some of us, last time we visited a doctor at the child antenatal clinic. The benefit of the annual medical check to give preventive care.
You have a Creator
The body is composed of the spirit, soul, and mind. The doctor treats the mind and soul. The word of God /feeds the spirit for a person to have a balanced life. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a man can commit is outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body…Did you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body…” (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Berean Study Bible). Do you have a story to share?
