IN MEMORY YET NOT FORGOTTEN: PART II

My employer’s father

While working as a house maid, I took breakfast to my employer’s elderly father. That man did not answer my calls, and would not wake up no matter how hard I shook him. When I removed the blanket from his body, it looked like he was still sleeping. I touched his face and feet, and felt that they were cold and hard. I took the food back to the kitchen and informed my employer that their father was not waking up, and that he was not responding to my calls and touches. She rushed to the room without saying a word. I didn’t see them remove his body and bury him, and I never entered that room again. I later came to find out that the elderly man had died.
