Life is a precious gift—one of the greatest blessings we receive from God. Whether in joy or pain, strength or weakness, we are alive. And in that very fact, we find reason to give thanks. Life, in all its forms and conditions, is sacred. It is a divine gift that calls for our deepest appreciation.
Every day, we do so much to preserve life. We eat, we rest, we take medicine, we pray, we seek help—because we instinctively understand that life is valuable. Even in our weakest moments, there’s something within us that fights to stay alive. That something is the spark of God—the breath of the Almighty within us.
The Bible reminds us in Job 33:4, “The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” This verse beautifully captures the truth that our very existence comes from God. We didn’t create ourselves. We don’t keep ourselves alive by our own power. It is God who made us, and it is God who continues to sustain us every single day.
When we reflect on our journey—what we’ve been through, how far we’ve come—we begin to see the hand of God at work. How many times have we been in situations that seemed too heavy, too painful, too hopeless? And yet, here we are. Still breathing. Still walking. Still living. That is not by accident. That is God’s grace.
Sometimes, we wait for big miracles to feel grateful, but life itself is the miracle. Waking up in the morning. Feeling the sun on our skin. Hearing the laughter of a child. Receiving a hug. Smiling at a stranger. These small, everyday experiences are signs that God is with us. That He is still giving and sustaining life in us.
Even when we are weak, sick, or burdened, life remains a gift. And when our time on earth is done, God doesn’t take life away—He transfers it. He receives us into eternal life, where we will dwell with Him forever. What an amazing truth!
So today, I lift my voice in thanksgiving. I praise God for life—my life and the lives of those around me. I may not have everything I want, but I have life, and that is enough to give Him all the glory.
To the Giver of Life, I say thank You. For every breath. For every heartbeat. For every day You’ve kept me. I honor You and I trust You to carry me all the way into eternity.
“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” — Job 33:4
