Mission

The Diaspora Oasis (TDO) blog was created to inspire and encourage the community of grandparents in the diaspora to share their own life experiences within their families, and to offer guidance and wisdom to the next generations. It serves as a source of insight (an ‘oasis’ of information) for grandparents within the diaspora, empowering them to share their triumphs, provocations, and values with their children and grandchildren.

As parents and grandparents, sharing our life lessons is one of the best ways to help our children reach success and positively overcome challenges. It is our hope and prayer that the content we share offers guidance to the diaspora families. We have spent the last 40 years in ministry and believe that our personal life journey, knowledge, values guided by Biblical principles, and our experience in the marketplace can make a great impact.

The Diaspora Oasis blog aspires to build a way for nuclear families and grandparents to relate and come together regardless of geographic location. The idea is to close the gap between three generations, with particular focus on the 3rd generation – our grandchildren. Our values and traditions can only survive if we make the time to cultivate and prepare the younger generations. Hopefully, by keeping the conversations real and humbling ourselves as we share our personal experiences, you will be empowered to open up and begin holding difficult conversations about topics that have been swept “under the rug.”
Avoiding difficult conversations by emphasizing on political correctness is detrimental in the long run, and it is manifested in cases of suicide, depression, divorce, and family breakdown.

Webster dictionary defines the word legacy as “something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor.” A legacy can be transferred in the form of money, wisdom, and values. If we fail to tackle the difficult topics, we leave behind a legacy of pain and suffering.
