IN THE YEAR 2022, JASON’S MOTHER’S DAY LETTER TO THE MOTHERS

At the age of seventeen, Jason was homeschooled and will graduate from high school with one year of college credits. I, grandma Grace congratulated him on his hard work and informed him that the next holiday would be Mother’s Day. Why not tell your mother how much your life has changed in the last seventeen years? Jason is our grandson.

Mother’s Day tribute from Jason: Proverbs 31:25: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

Proverbs 31:26: “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Proverbs 31:28–29: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.'”

There is no greater love than to sacrifice your own needs for the good of your child. You are our idols, our role models. You brought us into this world and prioritized our needs even during hardships. But we have learned more by watching you. For us girls, you taught us how to be a woman and how to be a mother. We watched how you treated our dads, how you worked every day,  how you dressed and carried yourself, and how you loved others. It is through your example that we learned what love really is. Love is caring more about another person than you care about your own self. Love that is so true—love that only comes from the Divine. So to every mom right now, while we can’t understand the depth of your daily struggle, we want you to know that we see you. Consider this letter to all moms doing their best. To the first-time mom struggling with sleep deprivation and postpartum emotions, we see you. To the mom trying to balance work and motherhood adding more to your overflowing plate, we see you. To the single mom with the weight of everyone in her hands, we see you. To the mom far from her parents, calling often, hoping they’re making the right decisions to stay safe, we see you. To the mom who just lost someone—her parent, her friend, her family member, her child, her unborn baby—feeling like she has to bury her grief, we see you. And To all of the moms loving their kids hard, keeping them safe, and doing their best without knowing what the future holds, we see you. We salute you. We’re here for you as you keep ongoing.
